Another weekend over, but at least I feel like I’ve got the spark for Photography back!
We had lunch at Rockingham Foreshore and I decided to scope out some locations for a sunset shoot. So we drove down to Point Peron and had a walk around the area, towards the end I was cursing that we forgot the baby backpack; I now have very sore arms after the hour walk with a 8kg baby in my arms.
This is one spot I’m planning on revisiting with a good sunset. But I took this during our recon and at review time tonight I thought it worth posting.
We also had a run in with a not-so native of the water. As we followed the path around the cliffs there was a black shape moving on the rocks that caught my wife’s eyes. Much to her delight it was a seal sun-bathing(I hope) on the rocks.
I ventured a closer look and it turned to face me so at least we know it was alive!
It quickly decided I was no threat and went back to sleeping(or whatever it was doing).
We kept moving and found a few more spots along the way that could be worth a revisit later in the right conditions.
Anyway, the main event happened at sunset, as I was driving the sky-show was great. Big ominous clouds with bright beams of sunlight breaking through. Unfortunately by the time I was in location, the sun had hidden behind some rainclouds never to be seen again.
I did however, have a good idea of the shot I wanted. Having seen another of Jamie‘s photos of the location I went looking for the flat rock formations on the beach. The tide was high so I couldn’t have a go at replicating this shot but I had a good time with a few locals coming to chat while I was waiting the big wave breaks.
Thanks for reading, which is your favorite?
